Come be a part of our first run through the historic district of Longwood. All of the proceeds will go to benefit historic preservation in Longwood, via the Longwood Historic Society. The society maintains three buildings within the district that were built in the 1870s and 1880s. We need your help to raise money for the continuous restoration and preservation necessary to keep them around for another generation!
The race will be fun,
family-friendly and Halloween themed. We invite runners to wear costumes and
will be awarding prizes for the best costumes. There will be a free kids dash
immediately before the 5K. Top three medals will be given to 5K winners for
overall and each five-year age bracket.
The race will begin and end at the Bradlee-McIntyre
House in downtown Longwood's historic district. We will have an after party at
the Historic Longwood Civic Center with drinks, burgers and hotdogs. Each race
participant will receive one free drink ticket with their entry.
We will have an announcer/DJ to help
set the tone. Will be plenty of family appropriate music, including some
Halloween favorites!
The
Course The race will start and finish in front of the
Bradlee-McIntyre House on Warren Avenue. It will run through the streets of the
historic district, west down Warren Avenue, north on Rangeline, back east on
Church, a loop through the brand new Reiter Park, and then back into
beautiful Historic Longwood!
We will post a map shortly once it
is 100% finalized with the city!
The
After Party We will host a party after the race is over. Each bib number
will have a tear off tag, which will represent one free drink ticket. Various
refreshments will be available, including adult type and kid friendly
varieties. We'll also be grilling out hotdogs and have some other snacks in
kind of a street party type atmosphere! Additional
drink tickets will be available for $3.
Costume
Contest We will have scouts, perhaps some local dignitaries, out
there observing the crowd looking for the best costumed runners out there! They
will be jotting down the bib numbers of their favorites. From that pool of selectees, and
perhaps with some audience help, we will determine the winners for best themed
runners. Prizes will be awarded to those selected including gift certificates
to local establishments.
Pre race Packet pick up will be held Friday from 10AM until 5:30PM at
